The pros and cons of Rangers and/versus Necromancers Empty The pros and cons of Rangers and/versus Necromancers

I would like to make it clear that this is not a guide in any sence of the word.it is based soley on my own exp with these two classes and my method (however flawed it may be) for playing these two.

Necromancer;

Pros. -Biggest pro has to be the various summons available.having a Lich or hellhound to pull the heat off of me has saved me countless deaths and millions of lost exp points.
-Strong "stun" and slow spells can keep your weak armored necro from being pummeled by melee attacks. . . for a time.
-Good outright attack skills that generate high hit points against enemies,most with dual damage types to help with mobs that have some natural resistance to certain damages.
- Having only a single weapon to maintain/upgrade is far less expensive(if you buy) and far less frustrating if you craft your own.

Cons. - Insanely slow casting speeds.even after casting a "stun type" spell,the casts are so slow you seldom get off more than one or two shots before "stuns" wear off.Fine for regular mobs,not so great against Bosses
- Lack of buyable goods.There are far fewer armor/weapon choices available through the sales vendors than any other class.At level 47 I am still running low 30's level armor and weapons.
-Not a great soloing char and although does have Party buffs very few parties seem to see the point of having a necro onboard.
- after 47 levels I have NEVER had a Blue item drop suitable for a Necro
- again due to slow casts you will forever have targets stolen from you by melee and ranged fighters.

Summary. This is NOT an easy class to play at higher levels. Being a squishy also leads to very slow level progress as being over mobbed happens quite often.Heaven help you if you are fighting a mob and get a dark Sprite curse fighter appear against you.The speed of casting is so prohibitive as to frustrate even the most determined of players.I realise that the talent cards will give boosts to that speed so casting can become managable, but with the alchemy system being so (flawed,foolish??) whatever it is damn near impossible to upgrade your talents to keep up with your levels.
Yes I have spent $40 on clovers to help class B scrolls attain some sucess but at this point I am afraid I would call Scam on Areia games for the stupidly poor results and fail rates.So after several 9x failures and worse,I am still running quite a few level 1 talents on a lvl 47 char including casting speeds!

Bottom line. Good class to run if you like the whole Caster gendre but you MUST have a reliable party to run with even though you are not the most desirable class to be picked for parties.

Ranger;
Pros.- being able to use Swords ,Bows and guns means you can ALWAYS buy new gear at the sellers,usually cheaper and faster than crafting them.
- fast casting and recharges really help on Rep quests as you seldom have your targets leeched by other players.
-more than reasonable DPS so same or lower level mobs will go down in only two or three shots.
-Not near as squishy as Caster classes so you can take a few hits if a mob gets through your ranged attacks.
- some good evades to get you past mobs and straight to the bosses.

Cons. -needing to maintain/upgrade both a ranged and melee weapon can become expensive and frustrating.and inevitably will lead you to a choice of Bows or Guns. . not both
-if you run low on ammo and your Sprite is "having a bad day" you can find yourself far from home with a dead skill bar.
-with three weapons and five pieces of armor this is NOT an easy class to make money with as upgrades and materials will suck at your funds real hard.
-with only medium levels of protection from armor having to face more than one enemy that gets within melee range is NEVER a good thing.
-very hard to get by with less than three Sprites.At lower levels you dont make enough gold to buy all your gear,and at mid to higher levels running enough Sprites to do it for you is both frustrating and expensive.

Summary. A much easier class to play than the Necro at least at lower to mid levels.the Ranger has more than reasonable abilities in DPS with fairly fast casts and regens,but must be played thoughtfully to compensate for lower armor and lack of AOE.At some point you will have to decide to go either just gun or just Bow.IMHO although bows are weaker at damage against guns of the same level as the ranges of both are the same getting the extra shot in that a Bows speed can provide will often make the difference between taking down a mob while it is still at ranged distance or having to deal with them right in your face where you are a much weaker adversary.

Bottom line. An under estimated and used class in this game.This may be due to the fact that a Ranger in Fantasia is not as vesatile as the Ranger class is in most other MMO's. With no self heals at all and no pet to tank untill level 40 or so this truely is a class where you have to consider only taking on big or tough mobs/bosses when you have just levelled and so will not lose all those precious exp points if (when) you die.At level 34 my Necro commonly had 50-60 gold on hand at all times.The ranger is lucky to have a tenth of that after all the upgrades and Sprite layouts.

Thanks to everyone for struggling through this large wall of text LOL.
